In our woods we have some rather unexpected visitors! We have Deer! We have a baby deer, a mummy deer and a daddy deer! In outdoor learning we have been spotting the deer a lot. Don’t worry we are very kind to the deer and we let it go about it’s everyday life, but if it comes near us we don’t chase it we stand still and let it go past. Remember if you spot the deer near you, you will not chase it, stand still and don’t shout! Overall we love our deer so much and are very welcome to have them as our guests.
September 11- 15th was Maths Week at Longstone and pupils were involved in doing lots of problem solving tasks. It was interesting to see how many different ways of doing a task there were with some pupils being very inventive indeed. At the assembly on Friday 15th, classes shared what they had been doing and it was extremely interesting. We had everything from marshmallow and cocktail cubes to emoji suduko!
Since Health week all classes have been given fruit trays in class. At breaktime the students have been encouraged to swap unhealthy snacks for fruit such as bananas, red and green apples, orange slices and satsumas.
From 13th to the 16th of June, P7 had their fun filled exciting week, Activity Week. On Tuesday the 13th they went to the cinema and had fun games of bowling. On Wednesday they had a disco followed by a barbecue followed by a silly string fight. Mrs Pearston and Mrs Roberson got involved too and had as much fun as the pupils. On Thursday they had a fun day of Simon Says Dance. On the last day, Friday ,they were practicing for their magnificent leavers show. Overall their week was amazing and they had a fabulous time.
The students of Longstone Primary have been told who their teachers will be for the next school year. There will be some new faces in the school and we will certainly make them very welcome.
