On Tuesday the 28th and the 29th of November P6 & P6/7 went to a Victorian school in Leith. They were treated like Victorian children in a classroom and the children liked it a lot. The children got to dress up like Victorian children. It was very strict and they got shouted at if they did something wrong. The children got to write with ink pens, read of the black board and do the 8 times table. They all had a good time but are glad they are children in the 21st century.
The FAST programme has been running in school on Thursday for several weeks now. FAST stands for Families and Schools Together and it is an initiative to try to bring families in the school together to get to know each other.
Pupils and parents are enjoying their time together, There are lots of activities to do, supervised play for the children while the adults have time to chat and socialise and each week someone wins a lovely hamper.
Each week two families cook for everyone in the group and the delicious smells coming wafting down the corridor are mouth-watering. The menus have included lentil soup, pasta, curry, mexican stew and chicken. By cooking together the parents have an opportunity to meet and work alongside each other.
The group are also planning a trip and the families are going out bowling.
