On Wednesday the 23rd and Thursday the 24th of November Mike Nicholson came to Longstone Primary School to run a short workshop for p1-p7. He talked about his books ‘Catscape’ and ‘Grimm’. For the infant he talked about his series of braw Scots books for bairns ‘Thistle Street’, ‘Thistle sands’ and ‘Thistle games’. Everyone enjoyed meeting a real life author!
At the end of November there was a book fair.
Pupils and parents could go on the school stage and buy books. There was a variety of books to choose from including story books, picture books and sticker books. The best thing is that the books were all half price.
Children in Need day was on the 18th of November and the pupils and staff dressed up in spots! The children were wearing Pudsey ears, Pudsey spring hairbands , Pudsey PJs and clothes with lots of spots! The school was full of spotty people. Pupils donated money for Children In Need. A special assembly was held.
On the 11th of November the P7 pupils put on a wonderful assembly for the school. The assembly was to remember all the people who were injured and died for us in the wars. All week the P7 pupils were coming round selling poppies. At 11 o’clock there was a 1 minute silence.
On the 3rd of November the Architects for the new nursey came in to P5/6 to show them the work that architects do. The class was split into three groups, the first group watched a powerpoint all about architects, the second group made structures made out of marshmallows and dry spaghetti. The third group made a 3d jigsaw of the new nursey. It was a great experience for the class .
